Service Project

Nursng Home

“I have shewed you all things, how that so labouring ye ought to support the weak, and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.” – Acts 20:35

At a time of year where we have bound up our blessings and have come together to worship and rejoice with the Lord and His People, we have an opportunity to shine like a light in the community to serve those who are daily doing a work of James 1:27.  Fulfilling Feasts are when we not only rejoice among ourselves, but take some of our time or share some of our blessings to serve others.

Nursing Home2

Service Project for 2023 KY Lake

We are taught over and over again in the bible to help others in need. We are told when we are feeding others we are feeding Christ. Matthew 25:34-40. The one who is gracious to the poor lends to the Lord… Proverbs 19:17. A generous person will be blessed, for he gives some of his food to the poor Proverbs 22:9. We are taught that God blesses us so we can help others, 2 Corinthians 9:8 and Genesis 12:2. Isaiah 58:7, 10; Luke 3:11; Matthew 10:42; Proverbs 19:17; James 2:17-18 are a few more verses on helping those in need and the list goes on.

That being said, we have decided to reinstitute our service project for the community. In the past we have collected food, sang in nursing homes, sorted things at donation centers, etc. We have decided once again to help the Marshall County Caring Needline. They provide various services for the needy in our area. Some of their programs include…

Food Pantry Program
The food from this program is donated by individuals, churches, and school clubs and organizations, to name a few.  Families or individuals can receive this food monthly based on need.

Homeless Food Pack
This program offers food, cleaning, and hygiene supplies to the homeless .

Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP)
Provides three bags of groceries each month to those with low income and are sixty years of age and older.

Emergency Food
Non-perishable items with extended shelf dates are stored for emergencies.

Cleaning and Hygiene Program

Provides items such as toilet paper, soap, diapers, deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and laundry detergent.

So please keep this in mind when you are shopping for the Feast. We will collect nonperishable food items, hygiene and toiletry supplies (the travel size is best), cleaning supplies, and more. See the program details above for ideas on what to donate. If you prefer, you can give a monetary donation as well.  Remember, what we are told in James 2:26 A body that doesn’t breathe is dead. In the same way faith that does nothing is dead. Let’s help those in need and shine like a beacon to this community!
